Aurora Orchestra: The Rite of Spring + Q&ATBC

Q&A: 6pm

Film start time: approx. 6.30pm

It’s 1913, and composer Igor Stravinsky, impresario Sergei Diaghilev and dancers Vaslav Nijinsky and Marie Rambert have created a ballet that will change the history of dance and classical music forever: The Rite of Spring.

Aurora Orchestra, known for their theatrical presentations of classical music, now attempt a world first: performing the music of The Rite of Spring entirely from memory. With the help of actors Karl Queensborough and Charlotte Ritchie, Aurora and Principal Conductor Nicholas Collon tell the dramatic story of The Rite of Spring, from its creation to raucous premiere. Filmed live in Helsinki’s Musiikkitalo and featuring incredible visual projections, this is your chance to get under the skin of one of the greatest works of the 20th Century.

Aurora’s Creative Director Jane Mitchell and Chief Executive John Harte will take part in a Q&A at 6.00pm, ahead of the screening which will start at approximately 6.30pm.
